On October 8, 2024, Vice President Jiang Song, met with a delegation from the American Physical Society (APS) led by President Young-Kee Kim.

Vice President Jiang Song extended welcome to the APS delegation and provided a brief introduction to the Natural Natural Science Foundation, its international cooperation, and cooperation with the United States. President Young-Kee Kim expressed her gratitude and gave a brief overview of the APS. Both parties expressed their willingness to further and deepen the Sino-American basic research cooperation to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the field of physics between China and the United States, based on the principles of "Integrity, Transparency, and Reciprocity." Both sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on topics of promoting talent cultivation and open science.

The delegation included Dr. Jonathan A. Bagger, Chief Executive Officer of the American Physical Society, Dr. Barry Barish, the 2017 Nobel Prize winner in Physics, Prof. Zhang Jie, President of the Chinese Physical Society, Prof. Fang Zhong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Physical Society, and Prof. Zhao Zhengguo, Vice President of the Chinese Physical Society.

From NSFC, Prof. Chen Xianhui, Director General of the Department of Mathematics and Physics of NSFC, Prof. Ni Peigen, Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics and Physics, and Dr. Zhang Yongtao, Acting Director General of the International Cooperation Bureau also attended the meeting.
