On June 2th to 4th, 2019, the NSFC-RGC Young Scholars Forum on Energy Materials and Applications, jointly sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Research Grant Council (RGC), was successfully held in Hong Kong by the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
At the opening ceremony, Vice President Xie Xincheng, on behalf of NSFC, delivered the opening remarks, during which he welcomed the participating scholars from both Mainland and Hongkong and whished the meeting a complete success. About 100 young scholars and students from universities and research institutions of the two sides attended the meeting. Thirty-two of the experts gave academic reports and fifteen made poster presentations on the theme of energy materials and applications. The participants engaged in intensive and proactive discussions over a range of hotspot topics such as photoelectric and thermoelectric energy conversion materials, energy storage materials, and theoretical calculation and material behavior under extreme conditions.
This forum, a high-level academic gathering, established a platform for the exchange of young scholars from the two sides and promoted the development of the scientific cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong. NSFC representatives, Dr. Gao Tiyu of Department of Engineering and Materials Sciences and Dr. Zhan Shige of the Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs participated in the forum.
