On February 13, 2018, Vice-Premier of the State Council Liu Yandong visited the National Natural Science Foundation of China (hereinafter referred to as the "NSFC"). She listened to reports on NSFC’s work progress since the 18th CPC National Congress and work plan for 2018, and extended Chinese New Year greetings to all the officials, employees and science and technology professionals of NSFC.

Liu Yandong started off by looking through "Five Years of Sheer Endeavor", an exhibition featuring NSFC’s funding achievements, then attended a discussion meeting on the National Natural Science Fund, during which, Li Jinghai, Party Group Secretary of NSFC, made a briefing on general situation of NSFC’s work. Yang Wei, the 7th President of NSFC, Xue Qikun, representative of the 7th NSFC Council members, and Chen Yiyu, head of the 4th Supervisory Committee, spoke on three respective topics, namely, the leading role of National Natural Science Fund in basic research, the personnel training of the Fund, and the construction of scientific research integrity. 

Liu Yandong gave an important address after hearing the report. Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council Jiang Xiaojuan, leadership of NSFC, members of the 7th Council and the 4th Supervisory Committee, and directors of relevant offices and bureaus of NSFC were present at the meeting.
