Dr. Li Jinghai, Ph.D., was born in Xinzhou, Shanxi Province in 1956. His research interests include the quantitative design and magnification of two-phase reaction system of particle fluid. He established the Energy-Minimization Multi-Scale (EMMS) model for gas-solid systems, and applied it to the simulation of complex systems and industrial process, which led to the development of multi-scale computation and the proposition of a new interdisciplinary field—Mesoscience. Dr. Li holds memberships from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) and Swiss Academy of Engineering (STWA), the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). He is the Vice Chairman of China Association of Science and Technology (CAST), Vice President for Scientific Planning and Review of International Council for Science (ICSU), and sits on the editorial committees/ international advisory boards for several Journals.
